South India basically comprises of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and the union territory of Pondicherry. South India is a peninsula in the shape of a vast inverted triangle, bounded on the west by Arabian Sea, on the east by Bay of Bengal and on the north by Vindhya and Satpura ranges.

South India's history dates back to Neolithic age followed by Iron Age and Bronze Age. The south Indian coast of Malabar and the Tamil people of Sangam Age traded with the Graeco-Roman world. They had trade contacts with Phoenicians, Romans, Greeks, Arabs, Chinese, and Jews. South India was ruled by many dynasties like Kadambas, Gangas, Chalukyas, Cheras, Cholas, Hoysalas, Kakatiyas, Pallavas, Pandyas, Rashtrakutas, Sathavahanas, Vijayanagar Empire etc. In the middle of 18th century south India was under the rule of French and British. South India has a population of around 233 million.

Around 83% of the population are Hindus, 11% follow Islam, while 5% constitute Christians. The average literacy rate of south India is 73% which is considerably higher than the Indian national average of 60%. South Indian languages are mainly Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. Telugu is the 3rd largest language in India after Hindi and Bengali. Tamil language was accorded the status of Classical Language by the government of India in 2002. South India is one of the most important tourist destinations in India.

Day 01:

Arrival at Chennai Airport. Upon arrival meeting & assistance and transfer to hotel.

Chennai, the gateway to southern India, established in 1639 by the East India Company, is one of the oldest cities of the country. Overnight stay at hotel.


Day 02: Chennai - Mamallapuram - Kancheepuram

After Breakfast proceed to Mamallapuram (60 kms / 90 minutes), a wonderful combination of Heritage Monuments and Empty Stretches of sandy beaches. After lunch at a local restaurant proceed to Kancheepuram (65 kms / 2 hrs), which is one of the seven sacred cities of India. Temples of Ekambareswara and Kailasanathar are of interest. Kancheepuram is also famous for its silk sarees. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 03: Kancheepuram - Tiruvanamalai

After breakfast drive to Tiruvannamalai (112kms/03hrs), a pilgrim centre with ancient temple of Lord Shiva. After lunch at local restaurant,


Day 03: Tiruvanamalai – Pondicherry

After breakfast drive to Pondicherry (100kms/ 2hrs), which carries a strong whiff of the French presence in India. Legend says that Pondicherry is the place where St.Agasthaya settled down. Aurbindo Ashram which promotes Aurbindo's ideas in bringing about a synthesis of Yoga and modern science. Over night stay at hotel.

Day 04: Pondicherry - Chidambaram - Vaitheeswaran Koil - Kumbakonam

After breakfast drive to Chidambaram (75kms/2 hrs) also called as Thillai, which has the famous Nataraja temple with the root of the sanctum-sanctorum covered with golden plates is located in the centre of the town covering an area of 40 acres. After lunch at local restaurant proceed to Vaitheeswaran Koil to visit Vaithyanatha Swamy Temple.later drive to kumbakonam check in to the hotel later visit suryanar temple, kanchanur temple later drive to kumbakonam Over night stay at hotel.

Day 05: full day visit kumbakonam temple

After breakfast proceed to local temple visit. Alangudi guru temple , Thirunageshwaram ragu temple , Swamimalai murugan temple, patheshwaram durgai amman temple, ivadi prethingara devi temple, and local temple visit and Over night stay at hotel.

Day 06: Kumbakonam – Tanjore – Trichy

After breakfast proceed to Thanjavur (40 kms/1 hr) which is well known for its exquisite handicrafts, bronzes and south Indian musical Instruments. Sri Brihadeshwara Temple built by the great Chola king Raja Raja in the 10th century AD is an outstanding example of the Chola Architecture. Later drive to Trichy(55 kms/1 hr) later visit situated on the banks of Kaveri River is a blend of history and tradition as well as pilgrim centre. Day 07: Trichy - Palani - Madurai

After breakfast drive to Palani (160 kms / 4 hrs), one of the most important shrines of Lord Muruga. The temple is on top of a hillock and can be reached by a flight of 690 steps. After lunch at a local restaurant drive to Madurai (120 kms/3 hrs) for overnight stay. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 08: Madurai City Tour - Madurai

After break fast proceed for a local city sight seeing of Madurai covering Meenakshi Amman Temple and Thirupparankundram Murugan Temple. pazhamudhir soolai murugan temple.The Meenakshi Amman Temple dominates the city evolved around it. The temple is mainly dedicated to Goddess Meenakshi and also to Lord Shiva (as Sundareshwar). Later visit Thirupparankundram which is dedicated to Lord Muruga, is noted for its inner sanctum that is cut out of the hard rock. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 9: Madurai - Rameswaram

Morning proceed to Rameswaram (170 kms / 4 hrs), the holy island in the Gulf of Mannar is a major pilgrim centre of the country. Rama sanctified this place by worshipping Lord Shiva after the war against Ravana of Sri Lanka.Upon arrival bathe in 21 sacred wells and visit Ramanathaswamy Temple and then. Day 10: Rameshwaram - Thiruchendur - Kanyakumari

Morning proceed to Thiruchendur (215 kms / 4.5 hrs), the temple dedicated to Lord Muruga, which is best known for the annual Kanda shasti festival that is celebrated here. After lunch at a local restaurant drive to Kanyakumari (90 kms / 3 hrs), the Southern most tip of India. It is significant not only for its association with a virgin goddess, Kanya Devi, but also as the meeting point of the Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea. Watching the Sun rise and Sun set from here is big attraction, especially on a full Moon day on the same horizon. Also visit the famous Vivekananda Rock Memorial. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 11: Kanyakumari - Trivandrum

After breakfast proceed to Sthanumalayan Temple in suchindram and then proceed to Trivandrum (90 kms / 3 hrs) the capital of the state of Kerala (also called as the Gods own Country). After lunch at a local restaurant visit Padhmanabhaswamy Temple, the principle deity of the royal family of Travancore. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 12: Trivandrum – Alleppey

Morning after breakfast proceed to Alleppey to board the houseboat at around 12 .00 noon. Your own personal crew drives the boat into the backwaters and anchors in a serene location for lunch prepared on the boat to your taste. After lunch you sail past the numerous canals passing extensive paddy fields, villages etc. We leave the following morning at 10.00 am after breakfast. Overnight stay at houseboat.

Day 13: Alleppey - Cochin

After breakfast drive to Cochin (60kms / 2 hrs) to visit Jewish Synagogue, Jew town, Chinese Fishing Nets and St. Francis Church.later visit Chottanikkara Bhagavathy Temple Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 14: Cochin - Guruvayur - Coimbatore

After breakfast proceed to Guruvayur (95 kms/2.5 hrs) which is Kerala's most important Krishna Shrine and one of the richest Temple in Kerala. The high walled temple of Guruvayur 29km northwest of Thrissur, attracts a constant flow of pilgrims. After lunch at a local restaurant drive to Coimbatore (130 kms/ 3.5 hrs) for overnight stay. Day 14: Coimbatore - Ooty

After breakfast drive to Ooty (98 kms/ 4.5 hrs) also known as Udagamandalam is the "Queen of hill stations" and the capital of Nilgiris district. It is one of the most popular tourist resorts in India. Nilgiris means "Blue Mountains". It is a land of picturesque picnic spots situated at an altitude of 2,240 meters above sea level. After lunch proceed for a local sight seeing of Ooty covering Botanical Garden, Boating in Ooty Lake & enjoy spices shopping in Ooty. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 15: Ooty - Mysore

After breakfast drive to Mysore (160 kms/4.5 hrs) via Mudhumalai & Bandhipur Wild Life Sanctuary for overnight stay. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 16: Mysore

After breakfast proceed for the local sightseeing of Mysore covering Chamundeeswari Temple, Mysore Maharaja's Palace and Brindhavan Gardens and enjoy shopping at Mysore.

Mysore, the palace city of Karnataka state derived its name from a demon named Mahishasuran, who was killed by Chamundeeshwari. It's famous for its silk and is also thriving sandal wood incense center. The beautiful palace of Mysore walled Indo-Saracenic, occupies the entire southeastern sector of the city center. Day 17: Mysore - Bangalore

After breakfast drive to Bangalore (140 kms/3.5 hrs) which is regarded as "India's Silicon Valley", "Fashion Capital of India", "The Pub City of India", and on. It is India's fifth largest city and the fastest growing city in Asia. The capital of the state of Karnataka, Bangalore is situated halfway between the coasts in southern India. The city was founded in the 16th century, and witnessed great southern dynasties like the Kadambas, the Hoysalas and Vijayanagar emperors. Legend has it that the name Bangalore comes from "boiled beans" (Benda Kaluru), which was served by a humble old lady to a hungry ruler in the 16th century. After lunch at a local restaurant visit ISKON Temple. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 18: Bangalore - Tirupathi

After breakfast drive to Tirupathi (240 kms/5.5 hrs) a temple town known for the famous ancient temple of Lord Venkateswara (Lord of seven hills or Balaji, as he is affectionately known) on the top of the 860mts high Tirumala hills. The temple of Lord Venkateswara is not only believed to be amongst the oldest temples in the country, but also the richest of them all. Later visit Padmavathi Amman Temple. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 19: Tirupathi - Tiruthani - Chennai

After breakfast drive to Thiruthani to visit the famous Murugan Temple situated on a hillock. This temple is accessed by a winding flight of 365 steps. Each symbolically represents one day of the year. Here, Lord Muruga sits resplendent with his consort Valli whom he married after bringing her from the nearby Vallimalai.

Day 20: Chennai

Full day free for own activities. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 21:

Till evening free for own activities and depart Chennai with sweet memories of the tour.
