Tamil civilization is one of the oldest in the world. Tamil is the official language of Tamil Nadu and it achieved the classical language status in India. It has been an agriculture state though it advances itself in other industries. Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu is called as "the Detroit of India".

Tamil Nadu is very famous for its gigantic and artistic temples in Kancheepuram, Trichy, Tanjore, Chidambaram, Kumbakonam, and Madurai. World Heritage Monuments like Mamallapuram, Gangaikonda Cholapuram, Darasuram, and Tanjore attracts millions of foreign tourists to Tamil Nadu.

Detailed Routing & Itinerary

Day 01: Chennai

Arrival at Chennai Airport. Upon arrival meeting & assistance and transfer to hotel. Chennai, the gateway to southern India, established in 1639 by the East India Company, is one of the oldest cities of the country. After lunch proceed for a half a day sightseeing of Chennai. Overnight stay at hotel.


Day 02: Chennai - Kancheepuram - Pondicherry

Morning after breakfast proceed to Kancheepuram (75 kms/2 hrs) to visit Ekambareswar Temple, dedicated to god SHIVA, is one of the largest temples of Kancheepuram and visit Kailasanathar temple, which is the oldest and the most beautiful temple of Kancheepuram. Pallava king built the temple in the 7th century. Later proceed to Pondicherry (145 kms/3.5 hrs) to visit Aurobindo Ashram and Beach. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 03: Pondicherry - Chidambaram - Kumbakonam

After breakfast visit Aurobindo Ashram which promotes Aurobindo's ideas in bringing about a synthesis of Yoga and modern science. Later drive to Chidambaram (75kms/2 hrs) also called as Thillai, which has the famous Nataraja temple with the root of the sanctum-sanctorum covered with golden plates is located in the centre of the town covering an area of 40 acres. Later drive to Vaitheeswaran Koil (25 kms/45 minutes) and visit Vaithyanatha Swamy Temple. After lunch at local restaurant proceed to Kumbakonam (50 kms/1.5 hrs) for overnight stay. Over night stay at hotel.


Day 04: Kumbakonam - Tanjore

After breakfast drive to nearby Swamymalai, another revered shrine to Lord Muruga (5 kms/15 mts). Here, Lord Muruga is said to have taught the meaning of the OM mantra to his father, Lord Shiva! Later drive to Tanjore (40 kms/1 hr) which is well known for its exquisite handicrafts, bronzes and south Indian musical Instruments. Sri Brihadeshwara Temple built by the great Chola king Raja Raja in the 10th century AD is an outstanding example of the Chola Architecture. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 05: Tanjore - Pillayarpatti - Madurai

After breakfast drive to Pillayarpatti (110 kms/3 hrs) to visit Karpaga Vinayagar Temple and then proceed to Madurai (70 kms/2 hrs) which is known as the Nectar city of Tamilnadu, is the oldest city in Tamilnadu. Upon arrival visit Meenakshi Amman Temple and Thirupparankundram Murugan Temple. The Meenakshi Amman Temple dominates the city evolved around it. The temple is mainly dedicated to Goddess Meenakshi and also to Lord Shiva (as Sundareshwar). Later visit Thirupparankundram which is dedicated to Lord Muruga, is noted for its inner sanctum that is cut out of the hard rock. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 06: Madurai - Rameswaram - Madurai

Morning proceed to Rameswaram (170 kms one way /4 hrs) the holy island in the Gulf of Mannar is a major pilgrim centre of the country. Rama sanctified this place by worshipping Lord Shiva after the war against Ravana of Sri Lanka. Upon arrival bathe in 21 sacred wells and visit Ramanathaswamy Temple and then proceed back to Madurai. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 07: Madurai - Kodaikanal

Morning after breakfast drive to Kodaikanal (120 kms/4 hrs). After lunch at a local restaurant proceed for the local sightseeing of Kodaikanal covering Pillar Rocks, Green Valley View, Coaker's walk, Silver Cascade & enjoy boating in Kodai Lake. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 08: Kodaikanal - Palani - Trichy

After breakfast drive to Palani (80 kms / 2.5 hrs), one of the most important shrines of Lord Muruga. The temple is on top of a hillock and can be reached by a flight of 690 steps. After lunch at a local restaurant drive to Trichy (140 kms/3.5 hrs) situated on the banks of Kaveri River is a blend of history and tradition as well as pilgrim centre. It is famous for Ranganath temple at Srirangam and Rock Fort and its temple at a height of over 83mts. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 09: Trichy - Chennai

After breakfast visit Samayapuram Mariamman Temple and drive to Chennai (325 kms/7 hrs). Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 10:

Till evening free for own activities and depart Chennai with sweet memories of the tour.
